Margaritaville Meets Fine Dining (a big thumbs up)

This was actually my favorite restaurant in Bora-Bora, although it had plenty of competition from the restaurant at the Intercontinental Thalasso Spa and Resort and La Villa Mahana. All three are very different and of the highest quality, so it is hard to compare and you will be thrilled with all three.

When walking in to Bloddy Mary's, you will be struck by a couple of things. First, there are two signs showing famous people who have dined there over the years. There is a cache to eating there. Second is the sand floor when you walk in, which immediately relaxes you and let's you know that, while this may be fine dining, feel free to kick back and relax.

My first recommendation, should you drink, is to hit BM's famous bar. It is the best on the island. A lot of good company from all points of the globe will saddle up there and chat over a few drinks Try the blood mary's - it is there speciality. Also, they make a pretty good dirty vodka martini - very hard to find outside the Anglo-American world.

The next stop is the "menu." There are no written menus at BM's, so they show all the fresh food that came in that day right in front of you and go over how each is cooked. The selection is amazing. Honestly, just looking at all that delicious fresh meat gave me happy dreams till this day. It is very impressive.

After you tell them what you want, the friendly staff will take you to your seats - which admittedly could be a little more comfortable - and begins service. Our food--a variety of fresh fish, lobster, and meat--was cooked perfectly. Just amazing.

Now, it is fair to say that there is a certain amount of tourist factor at play at BM's. But that isn't always a bad thing. There is a little gift shop there to pick up some shirts or hats. But otherwise, the restaurant does not really play up its "kitch" factor like it could and that really never presents itself unless you go looking for it.

Overall, phenomenal food, great drinks, and an embracing atmosphere. Enjoy!
